Driftwood Accent – “CRESTING THE WAVE”
Incorporating driftwood personally collected from the shores and beaches of Prince Edward Island.
The first piece of driftwood I chose on the Island. Found on the shores of MacLeod Road Beach, within sight of Wood Islands Ferry Terminal.
Moments from disembarking the ferry, Confederation, I was tire-tread deep in soupy, red sand. The rain had stopped just as I arrived! MacLeod Road Beach is approximately 3km from the terminal.
I’ve included before, during and finished pics of the driftwood for interest sake. I scrape, pick, and sand my pieces by hand. No power tools – not even a Dremel!
I have stabilized and elevated the driftwood to its CRESTING THE WAVE position, by propping a large, sea-tumbled oyster shell at its base.
Personally handcrafted, copper dragonflies. Automotive spray-painted wings in varying shades to give a mottled effect.
