ARIZONA SUNSET

Shadowbox  – “ARIZONA SUNSET”

Four individually hand-crafted copper dragonflies mounted against a mat with bronze fibre weave backing. Each dragonfly’s wings is varying shades of pale purple to violet reminiscent of the sunsets Arizona is famous for.

Wing colour; alcohol ink with added texture from a sprinkling of extra fine white polyester glitter, before ink dries. Glitter acts like a magnet to the quickly drying ink, resulting in a high/low effect of colour depth. (Oh! How I love to experiment.)

White wood frame, found at Habitat for Humanity. Originally an IKEA product, RIBBA, (1999) obsolete in this style. Have replaced original plexiglass with custom-cut “masterpiece” glass from Michaels Crafts.

Finished Size:  26cm (10.5″) square, 4.5cm (1.75″) deep.
